I wanted to let you know that we’ve finally packed up most of our stuff. Thanks to your efforts everything reached it’s destination in excellent condition – nothing broken at all!!

You already know how good and helpful the movers on the US side were, but it was very good to see the same service in Denmark as well. We were notified about the anticipated arrival date and they went and checked the drop off location.
In the end it got delayed a week (which happened to be a very good for our schedule), but they were quite flexible with the new delivery date. They greeted us with a “survival pack” - containing basic thing that are needed from the very first minute + coffee and tea. Not a big thing, but the moment it was presented made it a lot more valuable. They emptied the container the first day and returned the day after to assemble various pieces of furniture for us. As I was still in the US it was a huge help for my wife.

We thank for your companies assistance with our move and will certainly recommend you to other friends with moving needs. Your personal touch makes a big difference.

Hello all,

We have arrived in New Zealand and are finally feeling settled in our new home.  Thank you for all of your help with our recent move.  We appreciated all of your work in making the transition smooth.  We had initially called three moving companies for quotes - all based on positive internet reviews from international moving websites.  One never called us back.  The second set up an appointment for a week later.  Rainer set up an appointment for three days later.  When Avner came to our home for an assessment, he was very explicit with us.  He sat with us and explained the entire process and our various options in great detail.  He was extremely accurate on his initial estimate of square footage we had - even though we had told him we would still be purchasing lots of new furniture to be packed.  I think he was about 20 cubic feet off.  

The second person who came to give us an estimate came through our house very quickly, checked some boxes on her list and was out within about 20 minutes.  She spent no time with us answering questions or explaining much of anything.  

When the two quotes came in, the second company's quote was about $120 more than Rainer's, but their quote included a full-pack, whereas Rainer's quote only included a partial pack.  I really wanted to go with Rainer because of how much time they had spent with us and how detailed they had been in the process. They had been great at communication from the start.  However, a full-pack situation at just $120 more seemed too good to pass up.  So I called Doug and asked if they could make their quote comparable to the other company's for a full-pack situation.  They gladly did, and even beat the other price by a bit.  

The movers came on their scheduled day and did a very thorough job of packing our things.  I had no worries about them being reckless with our stuff - they were very careful.  As for the actual length of the move, it did take a bit longer than predicted.  We were told 6-8 weeks door to door, and about 10 days before our stuff was scheduled to arrive (around the 8 week mark), we were told that the ship was diverted and our stuff would be an extra two weeks.  This was frustrating since now our stuff wouldn't be in until close to 10 weeks after the original packing date.  However, the next week we were told our stuff would be in a week earlier than we were told the week before, so this was encouraging.  From the day the movers arrived to pack our stuff until the day it arrived at our new home, the total length of time was 8 1/2 weeks.  

The only problem with the unloading was that the movers accidentally put a gash in our couch when they used a box cutter to take off some of the wrapping.  But we paid for insurance, and Rainer was quick to get us the info to make a claim when we told them what happened.  Other than that and a crack in a plastic bin, all of our stuff arrived in good order.  

We would definitely recommend Rainer.  Their communication and customer care was great.  Thanks for making this transition much smoother than we could have imagined!

HI Dave:

Yes, unfortunately we had a crushed frame on a mirror, but at this point it appears nothing else.  I haven't finished unpacking all the boxes yet!  Unless there is major damage to some of the art or a box of china, I don't anticipate a claim.  I think the crushed mirror was due to the box being opened and resealed with all the protective corners left in the bottom of the box instead of on the corners of the frame.  We will also wait until the piano is finally delievered, but I don't expect any problems.

Overall I was very pleased with the entire move.  The guys from Moving Star were terrific and as I unpack special things that were so carefully wrapped, I bless each and every one of them for their care.  On this end, the John Ryan people kept me well informed each step of the way and their delivery people were very patient and efficient.  This move was the easiest and least painful of any of my many moves.  So, please pass on my thanks to all the folks involved.

Hello Avner!

FINALLY, I have found the apartment, and was allowed to move in. The group in Englad was super helpful, they let me store my possessions in England for a very low price while I apartment hunted. And they delivered the materials the exact day I requested.

Unfortunately, my apartment was not fully renovated as the landlords had promised, so I could not have the movers unpack the boxes, I asked them to stock them in one of the rooms. I will unpack next week and let you know if everythings is okay. So far, everything has been amazing. Every box arrived. A testament to your efficiency...just before the movers left our apartment in San Francisco 5 months ago...I put a toilet plunger on top of the boxes that were set to move. The movers must have carried it away with them. It was not numbered, listed nor packed...and today in Paris, there it was, sitting on top of the boxes, my toilet plunger!  That made me laugh. Now that is service!

I am very happy that I chose your company, and will STRONGLY, even aggressively, recommend you to anyone needing to go somewhere.

If there are any damaged goods, I suppose I should contact you about the insurance? Either way, I'll let you know how it goes.

Although we are not done opening all the boxes yet, so I hope my impression will not change when I am done unpacking :-)

I would like to thank all of you for the excellent work and the prompt response on both ends of the ocean.
In California, Avner's group was very professional and quick, and above all - succeeded to load everything into the 20' container. Also, except 3 screws of the keyboard legs (that we probably threw away with the wrapping paper as we unpacked the stuff), everything, but one picture, landed safely with no damage, and we found all the pieces/screws of all the furniture we needed to re-assemble. As I said, this is a preliminary assessment until we open everything, but so far so good.

In Israel, Yossi & Batya, succeeded to do the unheard of - release the container from the shipper and from customs WITHOUT us!!! all through phone and E-mail, including forms/copy of documents, etc. The only hiccup we had was the requirement to have ORIGINAL packing list from our move from Israel to the US 5 years ago (which I find pretty ridiculous), but Yossi worked it out with a copy. The container was ready to be shipped to our house before we arrived to Israel.
Great work !

As scheduled, the movers arrived with our container at 6:45am, as promised. Again, the team was nice, friendly and professional. They caused a little damage to the walls and ceiling while carrying the furniture to their destination, but nothing significant. It was very helpful that all the items were marked with room number, and all the rooms were marked, so they could put everything in the right place in the first attempt, without moving things around too much. By 11:00am they were done !!!

The only sticky point was the person scheduled to re-assemble the furniture. Roland was scheduled to arrive around noon, and at the end, after several phone calls, he arrived around 5:00pm, and rushed through everything. I've also asked him to assemble some new pieces of furniture, and he totally riped us off. (charged 400NIS for one hour of work, and didn't do a good job). I know it is not part of the deal, but I was counting on your reputation and your choices of professionals, and expected him to be good and reasonable.

Thanks for your followup interest. I am happy to report that every aspect of the move went smoothly. Even when a couple of our artwork pieces were seized by New Zealand Immigration for pest contamination the matter was handled efficiently by both the local agent and the government people and the goods are back in our hands bug-free.

Moving Star's part of the move went especially well. Your advance attention to the move details was appreciative and paid off on the day of the move. The pick up of our grand piano from Cabrillo College required some special effort, not only in organizing the removal in advance, but working with the school class schedule on the day of the move. On the day of the move a minor glitch required your guys to hold back for a while due to school activities. They were cooperative and pleasant in accommodating this matter. My wife, who was present at the college, commented on how careful and professional your team was in handling this valuable instrument.

Again, the second stop of the move at our residence went just as smoothly. Because everything was crated, the pickup was a quick one. It was the only time I met your moving crew and I wish to echo my wife's comments that they were extremely friendly, hard working, and good representatives for your company.

Finally, the local agent here in NZ who took delivery of the goods and handled the customs clearance was excellent. Like yourself, they made several advance calls to insure all the paperwork and delivery details were in order so that the customs clearance and delivery would go smoothly. All of the goods arrived in perfect condition, not a scratch. In fact, even the shipping crates were in new condition.

All three players in this move worked well as a team, Moving Star and World Moving (NZ) did a great job in handling the goods, and Ranier did everything we could have expected in cordinating the entire process, including the seafreight services. Ranier has a difficult job handing over their responsibilities to a number of other companies worldwide. In our experience, they selected their partners well.

Attached is a copy of the long overdue "thank you" letter from the Church. It is being put on letterhead and will be sent to you in the mail. The Church is unable to use the Piano, and we have decided to donate it to Mercy High School San Francisco, the private, all girls Catholic school my daughter went to. It will be a donation from the Church, and my family in honor of Mr. Johnny Land, who was music director at the Church and at Mercy High School. Johnny died last November. They are very grateful to be receiving it, and would like to have it as soon as possible. Would you still be willing to donate the delivery charge from Detroit, even though its going to the school instead of the Chruch? Let me know if that works for you. I will settle my storage account with you prior to delivery, but I need to check my payment records against the balance on your statement. I think I have paid more than $340 over the last 8 months. Anyway, it will be great to get the piano into the hands of some deserving students who will appreciate it. I'll get back to you by Friday.

I moved my stuff with MovingStar from Sunnyvale CA to Danbury CT, I really appreciate their professionalism, of first giving me an approx quote looking at the goods personally. During the move noticed professional way of organizing the move. Explaining courteously all the cost involved in the move, not giving you last minute surprises like other do. Clearly stating of what they can do and what they cannot do. Delivery of the goods was commendable too, courteously learned where the goods have to be placed and Organized way of moving the goods is the best part. In whole I think it is very good company to move goods.

I hope you are well. Thanks for everything during our move. The guys who unloaded our things in San Diego did a great job. The driver (his name escapes me) was there early and we had everything unloaded by 11am--much earlier than we anticipated. This was a huge help for us getting a jump start on settling into our new home. The drivers in both San Francisco and San Diego were as courteous and helpful as could be. The pick up and delivery were done efficiently and we received our items without any damage.

This was our first experience with a mover and we were a bit nervous. You always hear the horror stories but Moving Star put our concerns at ease from the beginning. We won't hesitate to call Moving Star the next time we move.
